  1. Keep your life’s priorities in order: Family, School, Baseball.
  2. Aliso Niguel and the CUSD have established a minimum required GPA of 2.0 the previous semester in order to meet the initial eligibility requirement, however we as a baseball staff feel that grades should be monitored frequently and have established a more rigorous standard in order to protect the student-athlete and have him maintain his academic progress. Grade checks will be implemented throughout the season on a three-week basis. The first grade check with at least one F grade and/or a progress report grade-point average below a 2.0, the player and coach will meet to discuss academic concerns. The second consecutive occurrence will cause the player to be suspended from the team for the next three-week progress reporting period. After that three-week period is over, if the player is once again unable to bring his progress report grades to a 2.0 or above, the player will be suspended from the team for the remainder of the season.
  3. Disciplinary actions issued by a school administrator will be fully supported by the coaches.
  4. Drugs, alcohol and all forms of tobacco use are prohibited. Any student found using drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco will be suspended from the team for a period of time, as determined by the coaching staff and school administration. If any player has been found using drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco a second time, they will be dropped from the baseball program indefinitely. In addition, the ANHS disciplinary policy will be enforced and any subsequent discipline will be adhered to.
  5. Hair should be neatly groomed - out of eyes and off the collar in the back. Designs or ponytails are unacceptable. Full beards and facial hair is prohibited.
  6. Remove all jewelry before practice and games. This is a CIF rule.
  7. Choose your friends wisely. Guilt by association is a common occurrence. Avoid parties where alcohol and drugs are present or your integrity will be jeopardized.
  8. Compliment each other for a job well done before leaving the baseball field.
  9. Be a giver, not a taker. Think: “What have I contributed to the team today?”
  10. Winners look for ways to get better – Losers just make excuses…. Be a winner!
  11. Make the most of each day. The year goes by quickly and will be remembered the rest of your life.

Players, coaches and parents may be in the dark about Tommy John surgery

By Jeannine Stein, Los Angeles Times
